Gay issues in the Omaha Community!

As you already know, gays in the state of Nebraska are neglected when you compare Nebraska to other states, we have no gay marriage, not even gay civil unions or gay domestic partnerships are allowed in Nebraska, no protections against employment or housing discrimination based on sexual orientation, no adoption rights, no nothing. Remember Nebraska's Safe Haven law? Where parents could just drop off and abandon children of any age? Well, thats exactly how the Nebraska gov't treats us!! Shall I get into how businesses in Nebraska treat us? Nebraska businesses like the Omaha World Herald! Nebraska's abandonment of its own gay residents allows businesses in Nebraska to completely exclude us from this community. I call bullshit!!! Gays help build things in Nebraska, ie The Old Market in Omaha! Its time that we stake a claim to what is rightfully ours! Its time we stake a claim to OUR goddamned, god-given rights granted to us inalienably by the US Constitution!

I recently found out that in one of the places I've worked, the owner has specifically told one of their managers to NOT HIRE GAY PEOPLE!!! I started this forum discussion so anyone and everyone who has experienced the bullshit because of their sexual orentation or gender identity to come forward and discuss here. Its time we discuss where the problems are, then we will discuss what actions we will take, what solutions OUR community expects to be done by the Nebraska state gov't, and if they refuse to act, we will act, whether it be boycotts, protests, or that grand old American tradition of civil disobedience we will take our rights back!
